Construction Visualization

For many years, construction visualization was how I paid the bills—and sometimes it still is. This piece represents the professional foundation that helped shape me as a 3D artist.

What I learned

My years creating construction renders taught me a strong foundation in 3D work, along with countless practical tips and techniques. That experience eventually helped me earn a position as a senior designer at a company in New Jersey before I moved to Florida.

Motion Capture Study

Music videos were my first passion in 3D animation, and they were also the first projects I was commissioned to create. Music continues to improve and inspire every animation I make.

What I learned

For this piece, I used AI-assisted motion capture to establish the character’s basic movements. I then cleaned and refined the animation by hand for the final result.

3D Modeling · Anatomy

Anatomical Study

This animation combines liquid simulation, Geometry Nodes for the DNA, shape keys for the anatomical changes, and careful attention to anatomical accuracy.

What I learned

I explored how several technical systems could work together in one transformation. I also used AI to voice a conspiracy theorist and subtly alter his words. Later in life, I plan to return to this idea and complete a full-body transformation.

Traditional Animation · Portfolio Development

Ringling Portfolio Piece

I created this piece for my application to Ringling College of Art and Design. My original portfolio showcased years of 3D animation, but I had very little traditional work. After speaking with a portfolio reviewer, I had two months to create something unique while still meeting traditional portfolio guidelines.

What I learned

This project pushed me far outside my usual process. I spent many all-nighters building the piece and finished it through a final three-day grind with very little sleep. It taught me how quickly I can learn, adapt, and deliver when a deadline matters.

A Hug for Dad

This is my most recent animation. While working on my first short film, I realized I could count the time toward developing background characters while also making my father a personal Father’s Day gift: an animation of my little sister giving him a big hug.

What I learned

I did not set out to learn a new technique here. What I liked was finding a way to break free from a larger project, make something different and personal, and still have that time positively affect the bigger project.

4EVER Billy Brown & Yvng Fu

I made this piece only a few days after learning that my best friend, Yvng Fu, had passed away. My art can be very real and emotional, but nothing I had created before demanded this much from me. I cried more while making it than I ever had in my life.

What I learned

Yvng Fu gave me confidence not only in myself, but in my art as well. Creating this through another stretch of all-nighters showed me that animation could hold grief, love, and memory in a way words alone could not. 4EVER Billy Brown & Yvng Fu.

Yvng Fu: Flying to Heaven

This animation shows my brother Yvng Fu flying to heaven. I worked on it throughout my first year at Ringling and completed it before the first anniversary of his passing.

What I learned

Ringling's traditional coursework demanded a lot of time and focus, and I was also working weekends. Continuing this personal animation alongside school taught me patience, persistence, and how to protect time for the work that means the most to me.

Creature Design · 3D Character Animation

FRUG

FRUG grew out of a Figure Drawing II assignment in which we had to create a creature by combining animals. I did not use FRUG for the final assignment because the creature had to be traditionally drawn, but the prompt inspired me to develop this character in 3D.

What I learned

This was a chance to take inspiration from a school exercise and make it feel like my own. My dog's name is Frog—Frog the Dog—and this creature is FRUG.

Blowing My Mind

Most people begin learning Blender with the doughnut tutorial. I started by challenging myself to figure out how to make my own head explode. I finished the first version after an all-nighter; this is my second, more polished attempt, with a hidden 4EVER beneath the muscle.

What I learned

The idea was crazy and wild—but so am I. This project led me into Blender and proved that I learn best by setting an ambitious goal, working through the unknowns, and meeting deadlines that other people might think are impossible.

About the artist · Here's my story

Building an independent animation studio, one story at a time.

I'm Billy Brown. I survived a life-threatening birth and, years later, an extremely rare liver cancer. Those second chances changed how I see time—and what I want to create with it.

After leaving Drexel and struggling with substance abuse, I found my way back through art. I chose sobriety in 2024, finished college, and earned my place at Ringling College of Art and Design.

The fuse was already lit, but losing my best friend, Yvng Fu, set off the fireworks. I'm getting faster, reaching higher, and eventually everyone will see what I've been building toward. He gave me confidence in myself and my art, and his memory lives in the work I make.

Now I'm building Envision 4EVER so my team and I can tell our stories—and eventually help others tell theirs. I appreciate all the support from my family, friends, and strangers. Love you all. Thank you, God.
